Valhearst is
Valhearst is above all a solo musical project, guided by life experiences and various encounters. This name has no meaning and has been invented by Pasca Rapha in 1999, to create an imaginary band wich became her solo musical project a few years later.
Music learning
Her passion for music began when she was a child. At 5 years old, already, she used to sing alone in the family house garden. From 9 years old to 13 years old, Pascaline followed a music theory training in parallel with cello learning. She sang to 2 choirs. At 14, she wrote her first songs in French, and started singing them with accompanying noises. Influenced by Clarika and Les Elles, female artists playing freely with their lyrics and voices, she recorded an entire cassette of songs entitled "Scene 15" that told the adventures of a group of friends.
Discovering New Wave
At 16, she started listening to Anglo Saxon rock. Following the discovery of the album "Wish" by The Cure, a revelation for her, she created Valhearst in the autumn of 1999. She recorded about fifteen tapes, did a sorting and compiled it all, then recorded new songs. With vocals, zither, guitar and a small Yamaha keyboard, she experimented a style more borrowed from new wave. Subsequently, she acquired a laptop with which she recorded several CDs.
The project ready
From 2010, Valhearst became a more serious project for her. Meetings have allowed her to evolve technically. She always favors experimentation. Thanks to sound software, she works differently. Electronics, psychedelia, pop interest her as much as the new wave. She explores ambient horizons, even trip hop, composes by ear, and her texts, sometimes French, are most often in English and syllables meaningless.

Valhearst est avant tout un projet musical en solitaire, guidé par des expériences de vie et des rencontres diverses. Ce nom n'a pas de signification et a été inventé par Pasca Rapha en 1999, pour créer un groupe de musique imaginaire qui est devenu son projet musical en solo quelques années plus tard.
Apprentissage de la musique
Sa passion pour la musique a débuté lorsqu'elle était enfant. A 5 ans, déjà, elle allait chanter seule au fond du jardin de la maison familiale. De 9 ans à 13 ans, Pascaline a suivi une formation de solfège en parallèle de l'apprentissage du violoncelle. Elle chantait à 2 chorales. A 14 ans, elle a écrit ses premières chansons en français, et commencé à les chanter avec des bruits de bouche en accompagnement. Influencée par Clarika et Les Elles, artistes féminines jouant librement avec leurs textes et leur chant, elle a donc enregistré une cassette entière de chansons à voix intitulée "Scène 15" qui relatait les aventures d'un groupe d'amis.
Découverte de la New Wave
A 16 ans, elle a commencé à écouter du rock anglo saxon. Suite à la découverte de l' album "Wish" de The Cure, une révélation pour elle, elle a créé Valhearst à l'automne 1999. S'est enregistrée sur une quinzaine de cassettes, a fait un tri et compilé l'ensemble, puis enregistré de nouveaux morceaux. Avec voix, cithare, guitare et un petit clavier Yamaha, elle a expérimenté un style plus empreint de new wave. Par la suite, elle a acquis un ordinateur portable avec lequel elle a enregistré plusieurs CD.
Le projet sur pied
A partir de 2010, Valhearst est devenu un projet plus sérieux pour elle. Des rencontres lui ont permis d'évoluer techniquement. Elle privilégie toujours l'expérimentation. Grâce à des logiciels de son, elle travaille différemment. L'électronique, le psychédélisme, la pop l'intéressent tout autant que la new wave. Elle explore des horizons ambiant, voire trip hop, compose à l'oreille, et ses textes, parfois français, sont le plus souvent en anglais et en syllabes sans signification.
